There are several reasons for looking after your tyres. The most important one is your personal safety and that of your family and other road users. The other is cost. Did you know that you should check your tyre pressures every two weeks? If your tyres are under-inflated, they are already costing you money. 10psi under pressure is like paying 3p per litre extra for your fuel! Over a year, that can amount to several hundred pounds for an average car.
If your tyres are worn, they are dangerous and illegal. Use our guide to see if you’re legal or not:
- The law states that there should be a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm. This means that the depth of the grooves MUST BE NOT LESS than 1.6mm.
- It must be measured across the central 3/4 of the tyre and all the way round it too. This means that, at any point across the main part of the tyre, the tread depth MUST BE NOT LESS THAN 1.6mm.
Check your car tyre tread wear indicator. If it is level with the surface of your tyre, then you need a new tyre. Call in to Soltyre today to get your tyres checked. Don't compromise your safety or the safety of others.
